Dating back to the mid 1800’s, Franklin Reservoir, more commonly known as Ice Lake, has served as an iconic location in the Buena Vista community.

As quoted by  The Mountain Mail “Ice Lake’s calm waters have been a Buena Vista fixture for generations. Records of the man-made lake go back almost as far as Buena Vista itself. Farmers used its ice to chill lettuce and other crops before the invention of refrigerated transportation. Migratory birds flock to the lake, whose waters provide much-needed riparian habitat in times of drought. An entire community has been built around Ice Lake to appreciate its beauty.”

As the town of Buena Vista has grown, so has the community surrounding the lake. In the late 2000’s, Lakeside Estates Preserve was founded in the spirit of maintaining the natural beauty of the land surrounding the lake itself. Since then, the community has blossomed all while the central focus in conserving the natural beauty has stayed the same. As the lake has withstood both man-made and natural changes to the Arkansas Valley over the last century, the community of Lakeside Preserve is dedicated to its continual growth and resilience through the next century and beyond.
